This was the first of the Baltic states that I have visited despite their closeness to Sweden. Taking a ferry from Stockholm was a first as well. In spite of living
in Sweden for nearly thirty years I have never seen the Stockholm archipeligo from the water, just from the air. The old town of Tallinn is what draws visitors to Estonia. Much is restored but a lot
of work still remains to be done. The city suberbs still have many traces of the soviet era and it will take time to improve the city. In general the appearance of the city was a poorer version of a
Swedish or Finnish city which wasn’t really surprising. Suku, the commonly available beer was terrible but an excellent brew was to be found a the Beer House, just outside the town hall square.
